Mintek's production facilities and processes of CRMs have been accredited by SANAS
Mintek, a globally acknowledged leader in mineral research and innovation, has recently achieved yet another remarkable milestone. Mintek, renowned for its world-class research facilities and purpose-built infrastructure, has been awarded the prestigious RMP0018 accreditation by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) for its production facilities of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs).
SANAS is the official national accreditation body of South Africa, responsible for assessing and accrediting laboratories, certification bodies, and inspection bodies to ensure they meet internationally recognised standards for competence and impartiality. This accreditation signifies Mintek’s capability to generate precise tests, calibrations, certifications, inspections, and data validation, ensuring accurate measurement, verification, and validation of data.
This accreditation holds significant historical importance for Mintek and South Africa’s mineral industry. It solidifies Mintek’s position as a leading authority in mineral research and underscores its commitment to excellence and accuracy in testing and certification. Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) are materials or substances with known properties used as a calibration standard or reference in analytical chemistry, quality control, and scientific research. They are crucial for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of measurements and analysis in the mining and related fields.
Mintek first established its CRM brand, South African Reference Materials (SARM) in 1974, and for the past 50 years has earned their reputation as the go-to reference materials for countless laboratories, mines, and institutions globally. This accreditation will further strengthen Mintek’s ability to deliver excellent services to its clients.
Commenting on this accreditation, Dr James Tshilongo, Executive Manager of the Analytical Chemistry Division at Mintek, shared, “We are delighted that as Mintek, we have successfully achieved this accreditation. It was through the hard work and dedication of the team, which is truly commendable. It’s been an interesting journey of five years, and we look forward to further adding value to our clients and industry. This accreditation not only validates Mintek’s capabilities but also sets a standard for excellence in the industry,” concludes Tshilongo.
Mintek’s CEO, Dr Molefi Motuku, expressed his satisfaction with this significant historical milestone achieved by Mintek. “Mintek’s commitment to innovation is essential in driving efficiency and improving metallurgical performance for the country.
