Mintek Inspires Future Scientists at Energy and Mining Career Expo with Deputy Minister Nemadzinga
Mintek recently participated in the Energy and Mining Career Expo held at the eKangala Engineering School of Specialisation, alongside Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Judith Nemadzinga. The event gathered 350 learners from various schools in the Nkangala region, offering a valuable opportunity to inspire and motivate young minds towards careers in the energy and mining sectors.
As South Africa's premier institute for mineral and metallurgical research, Mintek is dedicated to advancing science and technology. This year, Mintek celebrates its 90th anniversary, marking nearly a century of pioneering innovation and excellence in the field. Our participation in the expo underscores our ongoing commitment to promoting Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) education across the country.
Our dedicated scientists showcased some of the groundbreaking work being done at Mintek, sparking curiosity and interest among the young attendees. The expo provided an excellent platform for us to engage with these learners and highlight the exciting opportunities within the energy and mining sectors.
We were honoured to receive commendation from Deputy Minister Nemadzinga for our efforts in nurturing the next generation of scientists and engineers. The enthusiastic response from the learners, many of whom expressed a keen interest in pursuing further studies and careers in these vital industries, was particularly gratifying.
The event proved to be a resounding success, reflecting Mintek's commitment to inspiring and supporting young talent in SET fields. As we mark our 90th year, Mintek remains steadfast in its mission to drive innovation and foster educational growth in South Africa's crucial industries.
