Mintek hosts a seminar on the development of High-Temperature Shape Memory Alloys
Mintek recently hosted a seminar on the development of High-Temperature Shape Memory Alloys, delivered by Prof Yoko Mitarai, a world-recognised Materials Scientist and Specialist in the development of high-temperature materials (alloys) at the University of Tokyo.
During the Seminar Prof Mitarai highlighted the results of her research studies on alloy compositions and high-temperature alloys. The ultimate goal of her research is to develop materials that can perform well under high temperatures and be used to manufacture parts for the aerospace industry.
The seminar was attended by Mintek researchers, delegates from the CSIR, and university students. This series of seminars will continue to explore and examine materials that meet these specific requirements.
Professor Yoko Mitarai is a well-known figure in the South African science community. She has worked with Mintek and the CSIR as part of a research collaboration between South Africa and Japan. The collaboration is funded by the National Research Foundation in South Africa and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
