Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources Visits Mintek Campus

 

On 1st October, the Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Ms Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala, visited Mintek's campus in Randburg. The visit aimed to provide the Deputy Minister with insights into Mintek's key strategic programmes and its ongoing contributions to the mineral sector.

During the visit, Mintek CEO, Dr Molefi Motuku, presented an overview of Mintek’s core industry initiatives. He highlighted Mintek's collaborative partnerships with the sector, focusing on enhancing the extraction and beneficiation of minerals to drive growth within the industry. Dr Motuku also emphasised how these initiatives align with the national goals of fostering sustainable economic development through mineral innovation.

The Deputy Minister toured an interactive exhibition that showcased Mintek’s diverse range of products and services. In addition, she visited several research laboratories and piloting facilities, where she observed firsthand the cutting-edge technologies and research developments driving innovation in the mineral industry.

As Mintek celebrates 90 years of innovation, this visit comes at a pivotal time, ahead of the upcoming Mintek@90 Conference in November. Reflecting on the Deputy Minister's visit, Dr Molefi Motuku expressed Mintek's appreciation, stating, "We are delighted to host the Deputy Minister, Ms Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala, and to share with her the impactful work Mintek is doing in the mineral sector. As we celebrate our 90th year, her visit reaffirms the importance of our strategic partnerships in ensuring long-term sectoral growth."

The visit served as an excellent opportunity to further strengthen relationships between Mintek and the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, reinforcing Mintek's role as a leader in mineral and metallurgical innovation.
