Dr Takalani Madzivhandila

Board Member

Dr Takalani Madzivhandila is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Metallurgy Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg. He specialises in mining and mineral beneficiation, waste management, physical metallurgy and foundry technology. He worked as a senior Manager at the Gauteng Department of Economic Development, responsible for mining and mineral beneficiation. Dr Madzivhandila was seconded to the Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC) as a Programme Manager: Township, accountable for the Township Automotive hubs. Dr Madzivhandila was elected President and Chair of the BRICS foundry association and the South African Institute of Foundrymen.

He has served on various boards as Board Chairperson of the SEDA Platinum Incubator (TPI), Board Chairperson of the Technology Station in Electronics. He has served as an Advisory Board member at the Process Energy and Environment Technology Station, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, and also at the Metal Casting Technology Station at the University of Johannesburg. Additionally, he is a Board Member at both the Institute of Advanced Tooling and the Gauteng Fashion Council.
